Day 19 - Sunday, August 18th Wiesbaden slow day

Cloudy morning and some rain for the first time in our stay in Wiesbaden. Philipp and Manuela come over to the apartment before 11 am as we have to be Spital Restaurant for brunch. We are meeting Tina and Adrian, Julia and Martin + two young boys and two of Julia's friends. Nice walk to the restaurant located near the wine festival. Definitely, much cooler this morning. We get a table inside on the second floor given the size of our party. Service was even brutally slow by German standards. Oh well, we get to enjoy each other's company before brunch shows up. Food is very good and filling.

Pfannkuchen (German pancakes) which were delicious, but not too sugary. Served with muesli and some fruit.
Sweet mustard in the small bowl. Bretzel (pretzel) surrounding.
Weisswursts (white sausages) in boiled water.
Julia's three month old baby boy Moritz. Lana and I both took turns holding the little sweetie. We miss our granddaughter Georgia much less now.

Good conversations as the rain lightly falls outside. Adrian needs to leave to pack his luggage and get to the Frankfurt airport to catch a plane to Washington, DC and then Columbus, Ohio for business. We split up and head back to the apartment given it is continuing to lightly rain and basically all the stores are closed on Sunday in Deutschland. Lana and Tina enjoy their afternoon naps. Then the three of us do food prep, organize the dining table and get ready for the 7 pm dinner we are serving at Philipp's apartment.

Philipp's living room area. His large apartment has lots of windows and natural light.

Dinner is very good. Melon and prosciutto = the appie dish. Followed by barbecued steaks, salad and ricotta pasta with chives and peas. For dessert, vanilla ice cream with blueberries, strawberries and raspberries. Kind of a Canadian meal for Philipp and his girlfriend Manuela. Of course, first served a white wine we had bought in Provence and an Italian Amarone Valpolicella red wine with the entrée. Good food, good company and good conversations. About 10:30 and the dinner party has broken up. Our last full day in Wiesbaden and we never made it to the wine festival.   :-)
