Just before noon we walk to the Hotel Klemm to meet Tina and Adrian. This will be their first day in Deutschland. Only about a ten minute walk. Adrian is dropping off their rental car and we meet up around 12:30 at the wine festival. Great to see them both again. They moved to London early in the year and both now have good jobs and their own rented apartment in London. First order of business is lunch at the wine festival. We have missed real German food and I think we ate our food as quickly as is possible.

The Wiesbaden wine festival is 37 years old. It is physically located in the heart of the city between the Rathaus (City Hall) and the Marktkirche (Market Church). About 120 booths where wine growers present their products of newly made and superior (we hope) wines as well as some bubblies. Plus, many food booths with a wide variety of offerings and live music on a number of stages. There is no admittance fee. You pay 2 Euros for a wine glass to carry around. That is a deposit as at the end of the night you return it and get your 2 Euros back. The cost of a full pour of wine can range from 2 Euros to 6 Euros, but most pours are between 2 and 3 Euros. Very casual and informal. Places to eat and sit in the shade. So many choices and so much good food.

Getting hotter now in the sunny afternoon. Wandered the nearby streets and did some shopping. More eating so stopping at a German pastry shop for their yummy goodies. Decided to stroll to the nearby park to nap in the grass near the pond. Took off our shoes and socks and laid on the grass. Fairly quiet although the busy city street is close by. Yup, relaxing!

Back to the wine festival of course. We are hungry and more bratwurst sausages on a bun are our goal. Plus, trying to find a place where we can eat. Found an interesting vendor grilling his sausages above the fire. Lucked out into finding a place to stand and eat and drink our wine. The wine festival is getting busier each moment on a Thursday night. Tina and Adrian are taking a liking to the sweeter Riesling wine such as Spätlese and Auslese. We both love the sweeter Riesling wines, although the dry and semi-dry Rieslings pair well with all kinds of food. The sweeter Riesling pairs even better with spicy Asian cuisine.
Getting dark and the place is packed with friends enjoying the beautiful warm night, great Riesling wines and live music. Philipp meets us later with his girlfriend Manuela. First time we have met her and very impressed. Lots of laughs and maybe too much wine for me. We walk back to Philipp's apartment. Philipp is staying with his sister and her family. Probably around midnight when we get to bed. Lots of fun today!

Philipp's apartment floor cleaning robot. It really works. Gets under and around furniture, chairs and navigates on its own for hours. :-)
